James Debenham is a writer and director from the Isle of Wight who has written and directed award winning short films as well as high profile promos for Sky, Living and MTV.

His copywriting work for MTV’s recent on-air branding picked up a gold award at 2016’s UK Promax awards.

His current short sci fi film, Jaded Star, that he wrote and directed has recently picked up a number of short film awards, including Best Film at the 2016 Best for Shorts Festival in Hollywood.

His brand spot for MTV’s Music Matters, picked up a Best Copywriting award at the Promax UK awards 2014.

His promo for the Sky LIVING Drama, Bedlam won the Best Drama promo at the Promax UK awards 2011.

His 2010 Short Film, The Hairpin Engagement was nominated for the Anthony Minghella award at the Isle of Wight film festival.

His 2012 short Tomorrow in a Day was also awarded the Best Drama short at the Toyama film Festival in Japan.

James currently works as a freelance director and senior creative copywriter in London.
